The Olympic is a great and rare classic kit car. Rochdale used components from the Morris Minor for the first set. These included the solid rear axle, torsion bars at the front, and a 984cc BMC A-series powertrain. The duo agreed on these because they were cheap, strong, and readily available.
The Rochdale Olympic story
It's a 1963 Rochdale Olympic and it was one of the first fiberglass monocoque cars ever built. Lotus may have beat them to it, but I'd argue that this car is much more unique. Power was provided by a little Ford four banger and although it didn't put out a lot of power, with a sub-1,400 pound curb weight, this thing had to be a little screamer.

The Rochdale Olympic was introduced in 1960 this model, which having a glass fibre monocoque is extremely light, strong and aerodynamic. The purchaser could choose his own specification of engine and running gear. The Riley 1. 5 being the most popular but other options included MGA, Ford and Morris 1000.

The Rochdale Olympic story
Named after the Rome Olympic games which were happening at the time of its conception, the Rochdale Olympic was the second car to feature fibreglass monocoque construction - the first being the Lotus Elite. One of only 250 Phase II Olympics made, 'VAZ 5915' is an unfinished restoration project that's had just three keepers from new.
